zyGrib source and display of data

Post by gk_fabs » 08 Feb 2010 03:03

Hello,

I have been browsing the source of zyGrib, and notice you download the grib server status from https://www.zygrib.org/noaa/getGfsRunLog.php
I also notice the grib download is from https://www.zygrib.org/noaa/313O562//$fileName where you get $filename from https://www.zygrib.org/noaa/getzygribfile.php?but=prepfile&la1=$latitude1&la2=$latitude2&lo1=$longitude1&lo2=$longitude2&res=$resolution&hrs=$interval&jrs=$jours&par=$parameters&l=$zygriblog&m=$zygribpwd&client=Version::getCompleteName()

Could it be possible to know exactly the code you have to read the grib file you download from noaa servers and will it be published in a software part of this project?

I suggest you to take a look at http://worldwindcentral.com/ which is a map in 3D totally open source which could be use to display the weather data.

Thanks for the software :)

No, zyGrib is a grib file visualization tool.
The NOAA file downloader and grib server are independent private jobs, even if zyGrib can directly download these files. One of the main reasons is to prevent attacks on the server.
zyGrib can also show gribs from other sources, if data and grid are are known (work always in progress) and grib file perfectly referenced (location, data type and altitude)... not always the case with internet files.

It's interresting, but it would be a new project.

Regards,
A+
Jacques
