Satellite telephone

Post by Johan » 25 Oct 2019 08:53

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how to download GRIB-files using a satellite telephone. I have an Isatphone Pro and it connects to a laptop with Windows 10 through a USB cable. In the device manager I see a modem named Isatphone. What setting does the modem need (speed, initial string etc) and how do I prevent the connection to the Internet to be clogged by other programs background traffic? (Firewall, routes...) Ideally I would like to use zyGrib to request a GRIB-file and view it just as if I had a high speed connection to the internet. In a few months I will be sailing across the Sea of India and as there are no other options to get GRIB-files in this part of the world than through satellite I am very anxious to get this working.

Thanks, Johan
