Delay in making file - Windows 7 connection?

Since loading Zygrib onto a new Windows 7 laptop I have experienced a delay in obtaining Grib data. At first, the program (v.3.9.4) appeared to lock (not responding, W7 version of hourglass/washing machine), and I tried re-loading new versions. Now I have discovered that a download will almost always occur, after a significant delay. Normally I am not watching it, but when 'Make file on server' appears, it is rapid, and is followed by a fast download of the resulting file (so does not seem to be a communications issue).

Have you any clue why this delay should occur?

PS I have now downloaded 4.0.1 and there appears to be no difference.. the delay before making file was around 3 minutes. The server response was 6 seconds at this time. On this occasion there was a further delay after making file, and before the download occurred.

Interesting... today for the first time we are back to the good old days and making file instantly. Have you done anything?

But this was a one off - reverted to 2/3 minutes before file made.

Hullo,

Just to say that the unexplained delays are still occurring on Windows 7 machine...does anyone else have a suggestion? :(

Hi,
There is no timeout on the server side.
I guess the problem is in the network connection in windows, or perhaps a misconfigured proxy.

Hi again,

You will be pleased to know that this problem has gone away, either as a result of version 5.1.1 (most probably?) or as a result of an unrelated Windows 7 update..

Make file on server is now instantaneous..
