Trying to install Zygrib under Ubuntu 10.04 2 LTS

Post by Idiens » 26 Jun 2011 11:54

Sorry, I am a sailor and not a Linux expert. I first tried downloading zyGrib with the Ubuntu Software Centre and then with the Synaptic package Manager (same effect), the version was too old to download grib files and I was referred here.

I have tried using the instructions here:-
https://zygrib.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=156
But the first command "deb" is not recognized in the terminal, and I'm not sure how to proceed

Can you help please.

OK, figured out that the deb address is a repository, so used Synaptic Package Manager to add the address code. But on reloading got the following error:-

W: GPG error: http://doc.hausser.ch ubuntu-dha Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 2161A90735ACF7B8

AH! Now do the wget (a couple of times, one needs to wait) then whoppee! Repository accepted zyGrib installed with Synaptic.

Maybe, for other dumbos like me, you could add into your standard instructions the way to insert the repository name and warn that the wget command needs a bit of patience.

However, having got that far, where is zyGrib? No menu entry.

Still having problems
