Zygrib inaccessible

Post by Nominoe » 07 Jan 2016 09:02

Bonjour

Hello we are being blocked as well. Is there a way to get unblocked? Here is our IP address 204.109.60.96.

here a few test showing we are being blocked.

1. vmmail3# ping https://www.zygrib.org
PING https://www.zygrib.org (217.160.110.35): 56 data bytes

2. Trying 217.160.110.35...
telnet: connect to address 217.160.110.35: Operation timed out
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host

3. here is the traceroute.

here is a similar host in another IP block which works.

note that the trace routes are very similar... the last 5 routers in the trace are the same. this suggest that one machine/ipblock is being block and the other is not.

is there a way to request that a specific host or ip/block be allowed through your firewall?

please advise.

so we just had another of our machines blacklisted.. this one at 199.48.135.186. This is very inconvenient for our users. Is there a procedure for requesting removal from the black list?

[lsoltero@bee ~]$ ping www.zygrib.org
PING www.zygrib.org (217.160.110.35) 56(84) bytes of data.
^C
--- www.zygrib.org ping statistics ---
6 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 5033ms

[lsoltero@bee ~]$ !tel
telnet www.zygrib.org 80
Trying 217.160.110.35...
telnet: connect to address 217.160.110.35: Connection timed out

Hi,
zyGrib's grib file server is intended to zyGrib's users, only.
The robots, attackers and hackers are not welcome.
The server is much better since filters against misuse have been set up. There is no matter of deleting them.

yes exactly...

the requests made through our server are from legitimate users running zyGrib on their boats making request through satellite phones. Note that satellite phones requests for zyGrib are NAT'ed through our servers... What keeps happening is that you block access to our servers which means that these users no longer have access to your grib bot.

you currently have 2 of our servers blocked.

204.109.60.96
and
199.48.135.186

Is it possible for you to unblock these addresses so that your users can access your service?

Thanks,

BTW...

it occurred to me that you might know who we are.. You can view our services at
www.globalmarinenet.com and www.redportglobal.com
we are the company that runs the Iridium Mail & Web service for Iridium and also the Sat-Fi service for Globalstar.

Your help in resolving this issue is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sorry, but my aim is to maintain the server available for all.
It is not a sandbox for gamers nor for the promotion of other products.

Users with unstable connections can use the service by email, it is set up for them.

If that does not suit you, you can create your own server. The NOAA puts all data available to all (thanks to them).

In addition, if you use code originating from zyGrib, do not forget to respect the terms of the GPL license.

Thank you for your information.

our intention was to make your services available to over 10,000 users using satellite phones to make requests using your unmodified zygrib client through iridium, inmarsat, thuraya, globalstar, and vsat networks.

however... since these connections all go through our pop which NATs the addresses and you block these addresses these users will not be able to use the direct download method.

we will advise the users (many of which are at sea for months at a time without browser access to the internet) that their only choice is to use GRIB requests via email. We will also advise them that they should make arrangements for some one on shore to request new codes for them when their request by email codes expire after two months.

Take care.
