Morning all,
during a sailing trip a friend pointed me to zyGrib, and I'm quite happy to find a GRIB-software that is native for Linux! Thanks for this.
I created a project for zyGrib on the openSUSE-buildservice, which allows the compilation of packages for RPM and debian-based distributions (including ubuntu):
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show ... ome%3ADocB
Feel free to join the project to contribute. At the moment I'm working on a spec file for the build.
@jza: IMHO it would make sense to put zygrib somehwere under /usr.... instead of the local users's directory - this would require a change to the makefile.
Cheers

Il ne faut surtout pas oublier les mots magiques: bonjour, salut, merci, etc.
Les messages impolis sont rejetés et restent sans réponse.
Il faut souvent être patient, car il y a plein d'autres activités encore plus passionantes dans notre vie.
Here we speak french or english, as we want, as we can, but we never forget that we discuss between humans.
Do not forget the magic words: hello, hi, thank you, etc.
Rude messages are rejected and remain unanswered.
It is often necessary to be patient because there are many other activities even more exciting in our life.

Thanks for your contribution.
But no for /usr. OK for /opt like in debian distro as the package is not yet ready to fullfil all constrainst.
If you ready to work on an .rpm package in /opt it is already wonderful.
For more you have to be ready to take time to help of improving code to fullfil all rules for .rpm and .deb
You are welcome

Re: Building RPM-packages for zyGrib
This is OK under the mentioned restriction, but according to LSB, /usr path should be preferred, see http://www.pathname.com/fhsDomH wrote: But no for /usr. OK for /opt like in debian distro as the package is not yet ready to fullfil all constrainst.
(By the way, all larger packages including OpenOffice, KDE and Gnome have moved from /opt to /usr)
...to include this properly, the makefile should support this. Can this be changed to follow the triathlon (configure/make/make install)? If you ready to work on an .rpm package in /opt it is already wonderful.
At the moment the RPM build suffers from the problem that the rpm remains empty, altough the compilation works. Not sure what the reason is, I have to look into this deeper.

Re: Building RPM-packages for zyGrib
I made a good spec file here:
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show ... =home:DocB
Here is the nice binary rpm.
http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... x86_64.rpm
Source rpm's (which include the spec as well) and rpm's for other versions of openSUSE here:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/DocB/
I apologize for posting in English.
[edit] hah very funny, I didn't notice your link, I'm talking to the same person I already emailed just after finishing the package.
