Gribs by email

Purpose

This service is available only to subscribers of the zyGrib's forum.
It is completely free of charge.

Limitations

• Maximum 16 emails per user and per 24 hours.
• Maximum size of 4 MB per grib file.

Usage

1. Request by email: send an email describing the characteristics of the grib file, and the grib file will be sent as an attachment to an email response (see email syntax below).
2. Request by internet: click here.

Request syntax

• Send the request to "gribauto@zygrib.org"
• The grib file is sent to the "Reply-To" address of the email if present, else to the "From" address.
• The subject is required and must be the word "gribauto" alone, nothing else.
• The message must contain a list of required fields followed by the list of requested weather data, nothing else.
  • Required fields (one line each, format keyword: value)

    login	:	login on zyGrib's forum.
    code	:	personnal code generated on this page (it is NOT your password).
    area	:	coordinates of the extremities of a diagonal of the geographical area. sample: 45N2W 47N1E for latitudes between 45°North and 47°North and longitudes between 2°West and 1°East. warning: only integer values ​​are allowed.   OR coordinates of the center of the area followed by the radius of the area. sample: 45N2W 100NM unit: DG (degree), NM (nautical mille), KM (kilometer) radius is rounded by excess to the nearest degree radius max: 30 DG, 1500 NM, 2700 KM
    resol	:	spacial resolution of grib data (degrees). allowed values: 0.5 , 1 , 2
    days	:	total duration of the forecast (days). allowed values: integer from 1 to 8
    hours	:	time ellapsed between forecasts (hours). allowed values: 3 , 6 , 12 , 24
    waves	:	model for waves predictions (FNMOC data). allowed values: WW3-GLOBAL , WW3-MEDIT WW3-GLOBAL: grid 1°x1°, forecast up to 7 days: the world's oceans. WW3-MEDIT: grid 0.2°x0.2°, forecast up to 3 days: Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea, NE Atlantic Ocean around Europe, Baltic Sea.
    meteo	:	meteorological center. allowed values: GFS (NOAA data) , MBLUE (MeteoBlue data). warning: at this time, only the GFS model is available.

  • Optional fields (one line each, format keyword: value)

    compress	:	file compression mode. allowed values: BZIP2 (.bz2) , GZIP (.gz), ZIP (.zip), NONE (no compression). default values if missing: BZIP2 warning: zyGrib can't read .zip files directly, must unzip the file manually.
